Bailey has been a consistent runner throughout her career at C.M. Wright, but she came up big in the crucial races this year. She won the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference championship, and then followed with a victory at the Class 4A North regional meet to help the Mustangs take second place there.

Bailey closed things out with a seventh-place finish in the Class 4A state meet with a time of 19 minutes, 46 seconds to help the Mustangs win the championship by one point over Eleanor Roosevelt of Prince George's County.

Donnie Mickey, C. Milton Wright

Using his team's struggles at the state meet last year for motivation, Mickey guided the Mustangs to the Class 4A state title. The key was that the Mustangs didn't peak too early, something that happened last year and caused them to fade at season's end.

Mickey kept his team on pace all season long, always pointing toward the state meet.

MOLLY STRYKER
C. Milton Wright, defense

Asked about the specific strengths of Stryker, a junior sweeper, C.Milton Wright coach Paul Austin had a lengthy list that started with the intensity and smooth play she constantly brought to the field.

With good size and speed, Stryker was the focal point on defense of a team that posted seven shutouts and allowed just 13 goals in a 13-5-1 season that ended with a trip to the Class 4A state championship game. The Mustangs played Quince Orchard to a 0-0 tie through overtime before losing on penalty kicks.

Stryker, a team captain, was the calming influence of the Mustangs' back line. She made smart decisions, was sure on tackles and was able to distribute after winning balls. As a freshman, she was called up from the junior varsity midway through the season and played a role in the Mustangs' state championship team in 2005.

Matt Provonche Senior - Harford County Runner of the Year    Matt won the Upper UCBAC title a few days after taking second in the UCBAC division meet. The senior then took sixth in the Class 4A North regional meet and 25th in the state meet. Coach Donnie Mickey said the Mustangs needed a team leader this season, and Provonche filled the role. Provonche has not decided on a college.

Mary Waller - Senior Harford County Player of the Year The senior moved from midfield to the forward line and never missed a beat. Exceptionally skilled and a student of the game, Waller contributed nine goals, five assists and much more. Her speed, positioning and timing made her a strong catalyst, often initiating plays and orchestrating the corner attack. Playing on the wing, she opened up the field and always seemed to slip into the right place at the right moment. A Futures and club veteran who plans to play in college, Waller worked well within the team and was a strong, popular leader.
